The paper contains analyses of attempts at explaining the profound changes in Eastern Europe after 1989. are guided by conceptual framework social interaction. It covers micro, meso and macro level organization. first target is theory transition. diagnosis reveals some constructive features together with its difficulties to get operationalized effectively used explanations. major deficit absence a concept society. Based on interaction societal transformation efficiently functions as heuristic tool an organizer knowledge. Is transformations sufficient for full-fledged explanation reform processes Europe? search answer leads increasing relevance region’s involvement globalization. conclusion that impact global trends should be integrated explanatory procedures continuing European societies.
